Interview with the family of Jackie Rueda

Raise your hand if you do not already know Jackie Rueda . Venezuela is the most famous Montreal resident in Spain, I assure you. Jackie has been said many things , and have shown their f otografías at different times. In addition to teaching his craft at L'Atelier , online photography course, gave us photography tips in Kireei periodically.

To me what I like about Jackie is her picture, which I love, if not his person, his sense of humor and his humanity. Jackie has a personal charisma that acts as a magnet for beautiful things and the good vibes, it alone has created a community of photography lovers huge, Around the World in Flickr. When you update your blog, Almost Seriously , we release all what we have in hand and run to read and enjoy your way of seeing life and the fun that counts. It is also a good companion, knows what the rules are fair game on the internet and constantly supports all its people.

Today we are pleased to have her and her two daughters, Valerie (13 years) and Marianne (16), for our family interview we usually do to find hints of life in the kitchen of the respondents. As expected, we have received a text readable and interesting, and great photos, and unexpectedly, two recipes! Thank you, Jackie. Valeria, Marianne, are you some jewelry, I loved seeing you with your hands in the dough, and you are gorgeous.

What are the favorite foods of your daughters?

My daughters are so different that I have to say separately. Valeria's favorite things are the lasagna, fresh salmon cooked in a little butter, chicken in sauce and barbecued ribs. Marianne is a lover of Indian food, broccoli and pasta gratin. To make them both happy at a stroke must be given pizza, couscous and chickpeas with oregano, hummus with falafel or poutine. The poutine is a dish typical of the province of Quebec is French fries with bits of white cheese and a generous little curing bath gravy. It is super rich in calories and fat, so eat very little. Is what you eat here after leaving the clubs and are up at McDonalds.

What are the least like?

Marianne does not eat any meat, is a vegetarian since age 2. No meat, no birds, no fish, shellfish not. Valeria is not only passionate carnivorous but can not see the plant or painting. For 16 years my biggest exercise in creativity is the kitchen. In my house there are no simple menus. For both are fed properly, with enough fiber and nutrients, every day is a challenge to the imagination (if heaven exists, I think I've earned). Our policy is to never force anyone to eat what you do not like. Marianne will respect your decision to become vegetarian because it is a healthy choice, but I'll Valeria patiently training to expand your repertoire of plants and in the meantime, the camouflaged eat, but eat.

How is family cooking in your house?

. It is almost impossible. Our kitchen is microscopic, do not fit. Not enough work surface. It is difficult to even cook a duet. We bought this house with big plans to expand the kitchen into the garden but so far we have not even a drawing. When there are celebrations and all we have to prepare things at the same time, we use the dining room extension and the truth is that those moments I love them. I love to cook together, I put in a good mood.

What do they like to do your daughters in the kitchen?

Marianne likes to make different combinations of vegetables sauteed and then put them in the oven with mozzarella cheese on top. It also prepares baked cheese sandwiches, pastas and salads. Is now a favorite to bring to school. The recipe is from her friend Rosie.

Rosie Salad

In a bowl combine the following:

Lettuce

Sliced raw mushrooms

Goat Cheese

Black olives

Diced cucumber

Blueberries (blueberries)

Salt, oil, balsamic vinegar (or lemon).

Valeria is the baker of the family. Prepare cupcakes, cookies, Apple feet, chocolate truffles, ice cream and muffins. In December usually has a sort of possession and every night is set to make something just as sweet and clean just "close" the kitchen. If my house smells like vanilla or cinnamon, is that Valeria is wearing an apron.

What are your childhood memories about cooking and food?

They are very festive. I was not good tooth and my mother belonged to the old school clean your plate and eat "no hobbies," including what he hates most. He also cared a lot about health and had a list of banned foods among which was, for example, refined sugar. We are to eat wheat germ, black bread, cakes of yeast and other things anti-children. Then in my teens, became less radical, softened and began to cook delicious. My mom does not like to cook, not a thrill, but a magician and has an incredible flavor. My daughters love their food. When it comes to Montreal to visit we make formal delivery of the kitchen for three months and let us pamper.

Any disaster in the kitchen worthy of mention?

Lots! We are prone to disasters in the kitchen, but for me the worst was the first. He had just returned from my honeymoon and I dropped the new bottle of oil from the cabinet top. By hitting the ground, exploded and my brand new kitchen was bathed in corn oil. I sat down to mourn. Then I called my mom on the phone and gave me step by step instructions for cleaning. It took me two hours.

What is the perfect meal on Sunday?

Chicken fajitas! Fill tortillas with chicken flour we buy already roasted and also with homemade guacamole, sour cream, shredded Monterey Jack cheese, lettuce and onions very thin and golden peppers in a little oil. Each person is responsible for something and 15 minutes we are all on the table giving a banquet tex-mex. Marianne and Valeria are prepared according to your own tastes.

This is the recipe for PB & Banana Smoothie makers Valeria Marianne and breakfast on the run for days when it is impossible to sit down to eat (fortunately, very rare). Peanut butter is rich in fiber, protein, vitamin E and calcium, which together with the potassium of bananas and skim milk calcium, making this a very good breakfast smoothie, especially given the fact that students have a long day ahead to burn those calories.

Banana Smoothie Peanut Butter

In blender:

1 banana

1/2 cup skim milk 0%

1 scoop of Peanut Butter

2 or 3 ice cubes.

Beat for 1 minute at high speed and serve immediately.
